Mexico put microenterprise development on APEC ‘s agenda in 2002. In response, the APEC Economic Committee adopted ‘microbanking’ as a theme for the year. It mounted a symposium on Microbanking Development, Regulation and Supervision in the Asia-Pacific Region, in Mexico City in July.
