Microfinance and Disaster Management Participants Manual, 2006

Microfinance is an essential element in development responses to disaster situations, providing people with financial services needed to rebuild their lives and improve their living conditions.

There are, however, recent examples of crisis situations where massive injections of donor funding, including capital for microfinance operations, have been ineffective due to a lack of local capacity to deliver services in a timely and appropriate manner.

This training course and manual is designed to help MFIs develop strategies for disaster preparedness, and to respond more effectively in the wake of a natural disaster.
